Akhila Yasmeen – Director/lead teacher

With over 15 years of dedicated experience as a lead preschool teacher in both high-achieving academic private schools and public schools, I have had the privilege of shaping young minds and witnessing their growth firsthand. I hold the credentials for California Child Development Teacher Permit and maintain CPR certification, underlining my commitment to the safety and well-being of the children in my care. My journey has afforded me an extensive knowledge of child development, with a particular emphasis on social-emotional growth—a deep understanding that blends both education and practical experience. It is my aspiration to unite this rich background with my innate qualities of compassion, enthusiasm, and intelligence to be a caregiver who leaves a lasting, positive impact on the lives of the children I serve. This passion and dedication have driven me to establish my own program, where I meticulously design the curriculum, environment, and spaces in which children can thrive. My mission is to create a nurturing, inspiring, and intellectually stimulating setting, where each child is encouraged to reach their full potential and embark on a lifelong journey of learning and discovery.

Sanam +Faisal (co-founders)

We are founders of the preschool and our son was the first student in the program! When we began exploring preschool options for Rumi, we visited programs across a wide range of educational philosophies, including Montessori, forest school, and play-based approaches. While each had strengths we appreciated, none fully aligned with what we were seeking—particularly a meaningful integration of STEM and project-based learning. When we couldn’t find a program that reflected our vision, we were inspired to build one ourselves that integrate STEM learning and social-emotional development through engaging projects and activities.
